About Embru, it was founded in 1904 as an iron and metal bed factory in Rüti. In the 1930s, modern tubular steel furniture and collaborations with designers and architects from Marcel Breuer to Werner Max Moser were added. At that time, the first height-adjustable school desks were created. After the Second World War, hospital and care beds were further developed. At the end of the 1970s, one of the world’s most successful office furniture programs was created with “ergodata”.
Embru produces quality furniture with a functional design. Form and safety are key factors for the company. Embru furniture is durable and of high quality and is therefore designed to be environmentally friendly. Production in Switzerland guarantees this claim. Around 200 employees work for Embru at several locations, including 12 trainees. Know-how and experience are implemented in the most modern processing centers. They are a leading provider in the fields of school, hospital and care furniture as well as office furniture. Also, offering solutions and are specialists in the implementation of ideas and concepts.
The 1950s Embru school chair in the workshop was “refreshed” and given a new, colored powder coating on the cross legs. The seat and backrest have remained in their original condition – with a typical patina that witnesses a long life full of many stories. Can be used between the ages of 9-99.
I acquired the Embru school chair at an online auction. It is a 1 of 1 piece of functioning art that is well over 50 years old. This will be part of a office set I’ll be putting together for my furniture look book.
